Why SigEp is the Leading Fraternity at Southeast

Local Chapter Southeast Missouri State University

  • The first fraternity established on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University as the Webster Literary Society founded on September 19, 1891
  • The largest alumni membership of any fraternity 
  • We are consistently the largest fraternity on campus
  • Founded as a Sigma Phi Epsilon Chapter on December 5, 1953, as one of the first local fraternities to convert to a Greek Lettered National Fraternity
  • Winner of the Buchanan Cup, the highest award presented to a Sigma Phi Epsilon Chapter for the past fourteen years consecutive years
  • Winner of the Presidents Award for Fraternal Excellence, the highest award to be given to any fraternity on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University, presented by President Ken Dobbins for the past three consecutive years
  • We are a consistent leader in academics making an average 3.07 GPA average over the last 4-years
  • We have a  4-year development program “ No Hazing, No Pledging“ Awarded by the National Fraternity
  • Our chapter is a consistant leader in money raised for charitable organizations and community service given to the the greater Cape Girardeau area.
  • Winner of Greek Week for 2 out of the last 3 years
  • We donate more canned foods than any other fraternity on campus for the All-Greek Can Food Drive
  • SigEp is the only fraternity on campus to have two on-campus houses K-Building on Greek Hill and the Greystone Estate, a 85 year old mansion on the North Campus
  • We house more brothers than any other fraternity on campus with over 60 brothers living together
  • All Greek Intramural Champions in numerous sports every year, including past all-school championships in frisbee, soccer, tennis, basketball, football and volleyball.
  • Numerous Individual Awards have been presented to members of our chapter including:

  • Highest Participation in the country, at the SigEp EDGE new member camps, a weekend leadership and development retreat
  • Highest Alumni contributions for the past decade, our alumni have contributed over $225,000 for housing renovation projects, scholarship endowments, and general support.
  • More scholarships are awarded in our chapter than any other fraternity on campus with over $7,000 given to members of Sigma Phi Epsilon by our chapter alumni, BMP Scholarship and chapter incentive program every year.
